Homeless women, age 18 and older, who are from Wake County. Length of Stay: Shelter – one night, Non-medical Detox – 3 to 5 days; Recovery Program – 12 to 18 months. Other: The Sobering Up Center offers non-medical detoxification. The overnight shelter offers emergency shelter one night at a time. The recovery program is a long-term, 12-step based, peer-run program for homeless women with alcohol and other drug addictions. Pregnant women may stay in the overnight shelter but are not admitted to Detox or the recovery program. Walk-ups are not allowed and beds are not reserved. In order to enter the emergency night shelter, women must be at the Women’s Center of Wake County at 112 Cox Ave by 3:15 p.m. each day for the van pick-up. To increase chances of bed availability, women may attend Recovery Dynamics classes at the Women’s Center of Wake County at 10:15 am and 12noon.
